The Problem
I recently started my Gridfinity journey to better organize my 3D printing tools and accessories. One item that needed a dedicated spot was my cable strippers, which I use frequently for preparing wires for various electronics projects. I wanted a box that could hold multiple strippers while fitting seamlessly into my existing Gridfinity setup.
What's Gridfinity?
Gridfinity is a modular storage system designed for 3D printing enthusiasts. It consists of a series of standardized grid-based containers and accessories that can be mixed and matched to create a customized organization solution. The system allows for easy stacking and rearranging of components, making it ideal for keeping tools and parts tidy.
Design Process
I began learning about the Gridfinity system more in details and its modular approach to organization. Using Fusion 360, I designed a modular gridfinity box system that I could reuse where I only had to change variables for the dimensions. After designing the base box, I learned how to create custom inserts to hold the cable strippers securely in place. I took a top photo of my cable strippers and traced their outline in Fusion 360 to create a snug fit. I also added little slots where I still had room available to add small accessories like thermal tape or spare blades.
